My name is Zara. I am the Primary Schools Programme Manager at Football in the Community. My role involves developing, delivering and evaluating our primary programmes (specifically + Sport Move and Learn and Premier League Primary Stars).
I began my career coaching in local schools whilst studying for a BSc (Hons) in Applied Sports Science at Loughborough. During my time at University, I also worked within the Sport and Active Recreation team at Charnwood Borough Council, as both Sport and Leisure Activity Assistant and Summer Activity Programme Coordinator.
After graduating, I trained as a Primary School Teacher and spent 5 years teaching KS1 and KS2 in a range of contrasting schools in Leicester and Leicestershire.
PE and physical activity have always been my passion. I wanted to share that passion with others so I progressed to work as PE and School Sport Specialist. I worked in the Gedling area to support primary school teachers with ongoing PE professional development opportunities This included planning, delivering and assessing high quality PE lessons for F1 – KS2, assisting with team training for competitions, running extra-curricular clubs, leading Sports Leader training and offering advice about the PE curriculum.
I joined the team at FITC in June 2017 and look forward to using my knowledge and experience to enhance the primary programmes we provide in the local community.
