Newsletter #6 – June 2016

Brian StubbsIt gives me great pleasure to introduce this month’s newsletter from Football in the Community, which highlights some of the life-changing work that is taking place. I often pop in to FITC’s office on Meadow Lane to see my old mate, Les Bradd and the rest of the team to see what they’re working on!

Recently, I went to Aspley to visit FITC’s excellent Extra-Time project with a few former players, so we could find out more for ourselves. This is for over-55 year old men and is a great example of a project that is really making a difference to their lives by keeping them fit and active, as well as meeting new people. It shows you can continue playing sport at any age, as 79-year old John Garrett shows every week! I didn’t realise just how many projects FITC deliver until recently.

FITC’s annual Charity Ball was a great night and over £6,000 was made in fundraising – check out the photos.

And finally, please consider booking a ticket for FITC’s beer-tasting event at Castle Rock’s Embankment pub. This promises to be a great night of football, beer-tasting and enjoyment and will make a positive impact to FITC’s work as they will benefit from all proceeds.
