City of Football (COF)

#findyourfootball in 2015

Nottingham is the first English City of Football. Along with the title “City of Football” [COF] Sport England awarded £1.6million of Lottery funding to Team Nottingham in 2014. Team Nottingham is made up of a broad partnership of football organisations, businesses and creative industries, communities and faith groups. COF aim to create new football partnerships, support better planning of football through our innovative Playbook, get more people playing more often, be the fastest growing city for women, girls and BME players, develop and grow our workforce and learn what works and what doesn’t work so that we can keep improving. To do this Team Nottingham have created a company called the Nottingham City of Football whose only job will be to make Nottingham City of Football a success. Football in the Community [FITC] are one of the main delivery partners in the work being carried out by City of Football. FITC are working on bringing football to several communities through a range of activities that will encourage people to take up playing football, as well as allowing girls, boys, men and women to play football on a regular basis for free. We will do this by:

  • increasing active participation in football in Nottingham
  • promoting the cultural, social, health and educational benefits of participating in all forms of football
  • bringing together and utilising new and innovative partnerships across Nottingham with a view to stimulating, developing and sustaining participation in football
  • promoting initiatives to support the diversity of those participating in football
  • using insight and innovation to develop new approaches to how football is delivered.
