With only nine weeks to go before the sleepout, over fifty of Nottingham’s CEOs and business leaders have now signed up to brave the cold of an October night at Meadow Lane to support local charities.
Notts County FITC, in partnership with Trent Bridge Foundation, are aiming to smash the previous record set in 2016 of £46,700. With the two sporting charities joining forces yet again a £75,000 target has been set with early indications suggesting that 2017 will be a very charitable year. West Bridgford’s The Friary, a drop-in centre for homeless and unemployed people, and Emmanuel House on Goose Gate have both again been nominated as beneficiaries for this great event.
With the preparations underway for Thursday 5th October, Community Partners VF Northern Europe LTD have kindly donated over thirty pairs of designer shoes, boots and casual footwear to The Friary, ensuring that homeless people seeking warm clothing in winter months are kept comfortable. With VFNE joining as a Community Partner in July they have already raised £570 for FITC. Their commitment to supporting local Nottinghamshire charities is seeing monumental results.
“We are always pleased to receive shoes for the homeless and even better that they are brand new on this occasion and when we hand them out people will think Christmas has come early! A large part of what we do is about restoring dignity to peoples lives and for someone to receive a new pair of shoes will help with that,” says Helen Jones, Marketing & Communications Officer for The Friary. With over 50 of the counties leading business men and women braving the challenge at Meadow Lane, we are still looking for enthusiastic participants to join us on Thursday 5th October. FITC’s ambitious team would love to formally invite you to raise both awareness and funds for those affected by homelessness in the city.
