Community Partner, VF Northern Europe’s Johannes Lindstrom is ready to go that extra mile, well, 32 miles to be exact! On Saturday 2 September, Johannes will undertake a 24 hour challenge to navigate 50km of Peak District terrain all in aid of Notts County Football in the Community.
A native Finn, Johannes moved to Nottingham only a few months prior to signing up for the TrekFest challenge. “I wanted to get involved with my new home city, throw myself into my new community while giving myself a challenge. Through our community partnership with FITC I knew I wanted to raise money for such a worthy cause.”
Starting in 2012, TrekFest challenges participants from across the world to raise money for charitable causes while navigating ether the Peak District in Derbyshire or Brecon Beacons in South Wales. This summer, over 60 CARE participants took on a 10km walk around the picturesque Peak District with Johannes making his first ever visit to the Derbyshire beauty spot. “Before moving to Britain I used to organise mountaineering expeditions through The Alps. I can’t wait for the challenge and to do it for a charity that does so much for so many people is a unique opportunity.”
James Bromley, Partnership and Events Executive, hailed Johannes’ challenge. “We are so excited to see Johannes’ journey! Our Community Partnerships have put us in touch with so many enthusiastic and passionate individuals and I am glad, out of all the charities he could have picked he chose us. Everyone at FITC would like to thank him for his support and good luck on Saturday 2 September!”
