Join FITC on A Sponsored Walk through the Peak District

Following on from the hugely successful Bakewell Ramble in 2017, on Sunday 10th June 2018, FITC will be hosting another fantastic sponsored walk across the Peak District to raise funds for the life changing projects the charity runs throughout Nottingham.

Last year’s event raised almost £5000 for FITC and was supported brilliantly by many of the Cancer and Rehabilitation Exercise (CARE) participants who will again be taking part in this year’s event.

This year sees the route altered to cover part of the popular Tissington Trail and will be approximately 10km with plenty of rest stops and photo opportunities along the way. The route has been set by Lee James from Mountain Escapes who have kindly agreed to support the event by guiding the group and ensuring everyone is safe and comfortable along the way.

Full details of the event can be requested via the email address below but to summarise:

  • Coach leaves The Portland Centre at 9am. Participants are welcome to meet us at the start point if requested.
  • Arrive at Parsley Hay at approximately 10:15am for a 10:30am start
  • There are plenty of stops along the way and the route has been set up so that families, friends and children can take part if they wish

The walk is estimated to finish at Parsley Hay at approximately 3pm but this will be flexible depending on the group. The Coach will then bring walkers back to Nottingham for approximately 4pm.

Stephen List, who is the CARE Co-ordinator and will be taking part in June said: “The CARE programme offers men and women who have been living with Cancer the opportunity to socialise with other people dealing with similar issues while also working on their physical health and wellbeing. This event, as well as being a fantastic opportunity to raise funds and awareness for the charity, gives our participants a target to aim for and the 10 km route will certainly provide a challenge for us all”.

Cost of registration is £10 which includes travel to and from Nottingham plus an FITC Supporter t-shirt. All walkers are encouraged to raise sponsorship for FITC with all funds going towards the projects we run throughout Nottinghamshire.
